State Codes under GST

On application for registration under GST, the GST authority assigns a 15 digit GSTIN to the Applicant Business Owner after successful verification.

1st two digit of the 15 digit GSTIN represents State and UTs code under GST.

Example with Experiment : 

Let's try a google search for finding GSTIN of TATA Steel, Odisha.

As a result we found GSTIN -  21AAACT2803M1ZN

Here 21 is the state Code of Odisha (round marked on the above image)
